Raufarhöfn is the northernmost community in Iceland with 250 inhabitants. Because the arctic circle is only a few kilometers far away, Raufarhöfn has the longest days in summer and longest nights in winter.
The town has all necessary services like a health center, a pharmacy, grocery store, a bank, a post office, a petrol station, garage, restaurants and a pub. The campsite is well equipped with all necessities.
The landmark of Raufarhöfn is the Arctic Henge on a hill. The town is part of the Melrakkaslétta flatland which are known for their rich bird life. Many walkways around town invite guests for a stroll.
Raufarhöfn is part of the Arctic Coast Way.
Getting There
Raufarhöfn is about 140km northeast of Húsavík. Follow road 85 for about 120km and then take the turn left to Raufarhöfn.
