What about combining whale watching and Icelandic sailing tradition? Among the boats in the harbor are traditional gaff rigged sailing boats offering guests a real sailing adventure. These boats play an important role in preserving the knowledge of handling and maintaining traditional sailing and give a great opportunity to enjoy the wildlife in Skjálfandi Bay.

Húsavík takes especial pride in being the home to the first ship in the world to be installed with a regenerative plugin hybrid-electric propulsion: Schooner Opal. This unique technique has received worldwide attention and awards for the eco-friendly initiative.

Private and tailor made tours are available upon request. See the homepage of North Sailing for more details and actual time schedule.
