The rich fish grounds in Skjálfandi Bay have been the livelihood for many generations in Húsavík and are still of great importance for the local fish processing industry and fishermen in town. One can taste fresh or catch of the day in one of the local restaurants, but nothing compares to the exciting feel of catching ones own meal in the bay.
Experienced professional fishermen stand ready at hand to take guests out on a sea angling tour and show the best spots- usually not long from the harbour. Their lifelong experience and historically strong roots around the bay allow them to provide guests with a 100% catch guarantee. Most likely it will be cod or haddock, but who knows what the banquet of the sea offers that day?
The captain can fillet the fish on board. Guests can either take the fillets home and prepare it by themselves or take the fish to the nearby restaurant Naustið where it will be prepared for them. Fish will never be fresher than that! The guests need no fishing rods or rubber clothing, it is all taken care of by the provider.
