One of the oldest houses in town, named Árholt, is situated just beneath the dam at Húsavík park. It was built between 1889 and 1891 by Anna Vigfúdsóttir and her husband Sigtryggur Sigtrygsson. Until nowadays several attachments have been added to the house to enlarge the tiny property. However, the same family has inhabited this house ever since.

The house is definitely among the most romantic and picturesque buildings in town, especially in winter time when the snow piles up against the windows. Then it looks as if an elf or yule lad might suddenly step out in their woolen gown.

If you want to visit it, just go to Húsavík park, stand on the bridge and turn around and you will already see the building.
