Lake Botnsvatn Park Run

the Lake Botnsvatn Park Run is a refreshing and uplifting event that will be held on July 26 at 18.00. The run will commence at the northwestern corner of Botnsvatn. This beautiful area is one of Húsavík’s outdoor gems, featuring diverse nature and wildlife, the serene lake Botnsvatn with a beach and a comfortable walking path surrounding the lake.

Distances Participants can choose between a 3.3 km or an 8.3 km run, both of which will be timed by timataka.net.

Course

• 3.3 km: Starts at the northern side of Botnsvatn, follows the northern edge of the lake, then down Búðarárstígur alongside Búðará, passing the waterworks, and finishing at Kvíabekkur in Skrúðgarðurinn in Húsavík. This route is slightly downhill from Botnsvatn to Skrúðgarðurinn and offers a pleasant path suitable for everyone in a beautiful setting.
• 8.3 km: Begins at the northern side of Botnsvatn, takes a lap around the lake counterclockwise, then proceeds down Búðarárstígur alongside Búðará, finishing at Kvíabekkur in Skrúðgarðurinn.

Awards The top three women and men in the 8.3 km run will receive prizes.

Registration, Fees, and Packet Pickup Register online at hlaup.is by 23:59 on Thursday, July 25th. The fee is ISK 2,000 for the 3.3 km run and ISK 3,000 for the 8.3 km run.

Packet pickup will be at SMIÐJAN, Vallholtsvegur 8 (enter through the courtyard behind the Heimamenn store) starting from 16:30 on race day. Participants are advised to collect their packets in a timely manner. On-site registration is available but at increased fees: ISK 3,000 for the 3.3 km run and ISK 4,000 for the 8.3 km run.

Award Ceremony The award ceremony will begin at Kvíabekkur in Skrúðgarðurinn at 18:45.

Additional Information Refreshments will be provided at the finish line in Skrúðgarðurinn. Botnsvatn is about 2.5 km from downtown Húsavík, accessible via a good road from Ásgarðsvegur. Participants are advised to park at the northern end of the lake, where the run starts this year. Skrúðgarðurinn is located near the center of Húsavík. Vehicle access is via Fossvellir and then into Iðavellir, where ample parking is available. It is only about a 100-meter walk from the parking area to the finish line.
