The old schoolhouse in Húsavík dates back to 1908. Originally the house stood where the elementary school is located toady. One can easily spot the large school building behind Fosshotel with the sports grounds all around, just a stone’s throw away from the old elementary school. Gamli Skólinn was moved to it’s current position around 1960 when the new elementary school, that is still in use till today, was opened. Since then the house was remodeled into an apartment building. After years of neglect, the building was thoroughly renovated in 2005 and became the beauty it is today and hosts several holiday apartments.
